Omar Kaczmarczyk originated the concept of "segmented rights sales" for movies that is now the industry standard, and helped create the first collection account management system for independent film. As Managing Director of LongTale International, he is now a driving force in the development of new and cutting-edge models for film distribution. Omar has some 35 years' experience in film production and distribution, having consulted more than 140 international co-productions and independent films worldwide. LongTale has recently completed production with motion pictures from India, the U.S., Jamaica, China, Bhutan, Mexico, Canada, Poland, and Nepal. During 2010-11 he will begin production in Poland and a Chinese-Russian co-production. In 2000, in conjunction with the Fries Film Group, Omar executive produced The New Adventures of Pinocchio starring Martin Landau. In 1998, he was executive producer of the feature film Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World, and he developed and executive produced Trimark Pictures' The Eternal, starring Christopher Walken. In the 1980s, Omar was the first to access the worldwide video market, helping Alexander Salkind finance Superman and Superman II, the biggest independent films up to that time. He then implemented presale rights licensing for Superman III, Supergirl, and Santa Claus: The Movie starring Dudley Moore. He made headlines with the Warner Bros. release Supergirl as the first "studio" segmented video deal. His segmented rights deals are now the accepted industry practice for all of the members of the MPAA, IFTA, and FIAPF. Other pictures he has helped finance include Pirates, directed by Roman Polansky, and Screamers starring Peter Weller for Fries Entertainment. He also developed foreign distribution operations for Scotti Brothers Pictures, advised Harvey Weinstein at Miramax on foreign sales operations, and created the financing and distribution marketing operations of Noble Entertainment. With Credit Lyonaise as banker, he also facilitated Carolco's merger with IVE, creating Carolco/LIVE Entertainment, which became Artisan Entertainment, now Lionsgate. Omar's close friends call him the "poet of business."
